Tenkara Tonkin Bamboo Rod Kit – DIY Traditional Japanese Fishing Rod Making
Craft premium Tenkara rods, Japanese bamboo fishing rods, Chinese bamboo fishing poles, and bamboo fly rods using carefully selected Tonkin bamboo.
All poles are made from mature Tonkin bamboo at least 4 years old, selected for suitable diameter, similar node spacing, strength, flexibility, and straightness.

Bamboo Preparation
Each Tonkin bamboo pole is:
Individually hand-straightened
Internal bamboo nodes already opened and cleared
Matched for diameter and node spacing
Unvarnished for custom finishing
This preparation saves considerable work and makes the kit ideal for sectional Tenkara bamboo rods, traditional Japanese fishing rods, Chinese bamboo rods, and custom bamboo fly rods.
Depending on construction and tip design, finished rods may be suitable for fish weighing approximately 1–10 lbs.
DIY work may include ferrule wrapping, tip making, varnishing, handle fitting, guide installation, and final tuning.
Extra bamboo pieces in different sizes are included for practice and testing.
