Our Madake bamboo shakuhachi are handcrafted by a master with 36 years of experience, using carefully selected premium root-end Madake bamboo (Phyllostachys bambusoides). This bamboo is valued for its strength, dense fibers, thick walls, natural beauty, and elegant appearance.
The bamboo is naturally seasoned for more than 3 years to improve stability. Each handmade shakuhachi features a natural bore, preserves the bamboo's unique character, and is individually adjusted by our experienced maker to achieve a balanced, accurate, and stable tone.

Maker’s Recommendation: You only need to tell us your preferred shakuhachi length, considering your height and arm length, as well as whether you prefer right-handed or left-handed playing.
Our experienced shakuhachi maker will then select the most suitable Madake bamboo and professionally determine the appropriate bore dimensions, overall proportions, and finger-hole placement to provide comfortable playability and a balanced tone.
We also specialize in extra-long shakuhachi. For 3.5–4.0 shaku and other unusual custom sizes, we can specially select rare, large-size Madake bamboo suitable for these demanding instruments.
