This is a traditional handmade horn bow core semi-finished kit, available in classic designs including Long Siyah Bow Core, Small Siyah Bow Core, Turkish Bow Core, and Qing Bow Core. Each bow base is crafted from naturally smoked bamboo and hard maple wood, following the same structural principles used in historical horn composite bows. This is a true semi-finished product, with approximately 90% of the bow-making work already completed, allowing craftsmen to save significant time while retaining full control over final fitting and finishing.
The bamboo is harvested after the first frost, then boiled in salt water, rinsed, semi-dried, and smoked for approximately four months under dense natural smoke at temperatures below 40°C. This rare traditional process eliminates insects, enhances elasticity, and strengthens the fiber structure, making it far superior to common air-dried bamboo used in modern reproductions.
Due to significant climate and humidity differences, slight deformation may occur during shipping, which is normal for natural bamboo materials. If adjustment is required, simply boil water in a kettle and evenly expose the bow core to steam for a few minutes, then gently correct it by hand or with simple tools while warm. The joint between the siyah (bow tip) and the limb is intentionally not 100% polished or permanently fitted, as even perfectly matched joints may shift after transportation. For best results, allow the bow core to rest for several days in your local environment before performing final hand sanding to achieve full contact and precise alignment. Each core retains the original geometry of traditional horn bows and is suitable for craftsmen, artisans, restorers, or collectors. Draw weight ranges from 30–85 lbs, with approximate dimensions of 4 cm in width and 120 cm in length; minor variations may occur due to natural materials and handcrafting. Custom sizes or specifications are available upon request. This rare, adhesion-free material kit preserves bow-making techniques that are nearly lost in modern times and is highly valued by historical archery enthusiasts.
